The first thing I learned,and what you need to do before starting a blog is finding a niche that you would like to write about.
My wife and daughter had read some of my writings to newspapers, Facebook, and e-mails, and suggested my niche could be about my passions that I was already sharing about helping people: writing grants, teaching others to write grants, personal and spiritual development, and helping people learn about, and help others.

I have made some money from writing. Some newspaper editors and a large publishing house have published some of my writings.
Recently, I finished my first novel, the first in a series of 14 in a running story of four different family generations, and their coping with changes, their various cultures, racism, and a family secret.
Now, I have become more serious about blogging, and making money from blogging, and from my writings in general. What I have learned, and will learn, I will pass on to e-mail subscribers to my posts.
